Case storage help

Choose where each portable CrashCompute case file is stored. Device and provider storage are available to Free and paid users.

Your browser remains the working copy. CrashCompute autosaves current worksheet state in this browser. Saving to a device or provider creates a separate portable case file. It does not automatically remove the browser copy.

Storage choices

This device or a synced folder

Select Save file and choose any location your browser can reach. CrashCompute asks for a case password and encrypts the file before saving it. This can include a folder synchronized by Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive for desktop, or iCloud Drive.

Keep the case password separately. CrashCompute cannot decrypt a case or recover a forgotten password. Send a shared link and its password through separate channels.

Dropbox

CrashCompute can access only its Dropbox App Folder. Files are stored at:

/Apps/CrashCompute/Cases/<case-name>.crashcompute.json

OneDrive

CrashCompute uses Microsoft's least-privilege application folder. Files are stored at:

Apps/CrashCompute/Cases/<case-name>.crashcompute.json

Google Drive

CrashCompute can access files it creates through the narrow drive.file permission. Files are stored at:

/CrashCompute/<case-name>.crashcompute.json

CrashCompute Cloud

This paid-plan option creates or updates a CrashCompute cloud case and its shareable link. An active trial also includes access. If a plan ends, existing cases remain readable and exportable, but cannot be updated until the owner subscribes again.

Disconnect or revoke access

When connected, Dropbox and Google Drive offer Disconnect and revoke. OneDrive offers Disconnect, which removes the browser token without requesting broader Microsoft permissions.

Disconnecting does not delete files already saved in your provider. Delete those files from the provider if you no longer want them retained there.

Opening, conflicts, and recovery

  1. Use Connect and open to reopen an existing provider copy before editing it.
  2. If CrashCompute reports that another copy changed, reopen the provider file and review it before saving again.
  3. If a connection expires, reconnect. CrashCompute does not keep provider refresh tokens on its servers.
  4. If a file is missing, check the provider's trash, version history, quota, and the storage path shown above.
  5. Keep an independent PDF or portable case-file export when agency policy requires a fixed record.

Privacy

Provider case files travel directly between your browser and the selected provider. They are not copied into CrashCompute Cloud unless you separately select Save to CrashCompute. Diagnostic events contain only the provider, operation, success or failure, a general error code, and time. They do not contain case data, filenames, case numbers, authorization codes, or tokens.
