EDR and CDR Event Summary Worksheet

Turn a vehicle download into a structured case summary without obscuring source-report limitations.

Method overview

downloaded event data + source limitations + independent comparison

The worksheet aligns reported pre-crash samples, delta-V channels, restraint status, and event metadata with calculations derived from physical evidence.

Evidence to document

  • Original CDR or manufacturer report and applicable translation guidance.
  • Event type, record status, time-zero definition, and sample interval.
  • Reported speed, brake, throttle, steering, and delta-V fields.
  • Vehicle-specific limitations, polarity conventions, and data status flags.

Limitations

EDR/CDR values must be interpreted under the manufacturer and model-year-specific limitations in the source report. Preserve the original download and chain of custody.

Record measurements, assumptions, units, rounding, and source material so another investigator can reproduce the result. See the methodology and validation center for verification policy and citation guidance.
